Supporting Mood Disorders
At Bio Concepts we pride ourselves on educating and supporting practitioners in assessing and treating each patient as an individual, focusing on their specific biochemical, physiological and pathological presentation. The provision of comprehensive assessment is why a practitioner consultation is of much greater value to an individual, than self prescription or simple over the counter advice.
Neurotransmitters play a key role in cognitive and mental function, and an imbalance of neurotransmitters may be associated with subsequent neuronal dysfunction and mood disorders. Such imbalances may vary in different people, and often various neurotransmitters are involved in a complex interplay with other relevant physiological factors. It is not always as simple as categorising people into different boxes. Assessment of imbalances may enable more specific treatment programs to nutritionally support neurotransmitter dysfunction.
Patients with mental health conditions, experience a great amount of turmoil and frustration as their condition can sometimes affect their daily lives with more vengeance than other more physical pathologies. Therefore, initial support of neurotransmitter imbalances, may help to provide fast symptomatic relief and allow patients to function better day to day, while the root of their condition is determined and subtly treated. A patient who associates an improvement of symptoms with you, their practitioner, is more likely to comply with future treatments as you address the complex interplay of factors that make up the root cause of their condition.
